Description

The Golden Ring of Russia

The obverse: on the disc – the emblem of the Bank of Russia [the two-headed eagle with wings down, under it – the semicircular inscription “БАНК РОССИИ” (BANK OF RUSSIA)] framed by a circle of dots, below: to the left – indications of the metal sign and fineness, to the right – the fine metal content. The inscriptions on the ring along the rim – on top: “ПЯТЬ РУБЛЕЙ” (FIVE RUBLES), below: to the left – indications of the metal sign and fineness, in the centre – year of issue: “2008 г.” (2008), to the right – the fine metal content and the mint trade mark.

The reverse: on the disc to the left – earthen ramparts of the ancient fortress, to the right – the Saviour’s Transfiguration Cathedral, in the background – the outlines of the town’s buildings, trees, couples of churches, on the ring below – inscription: “ПЕРЕСЛАВЛЬ-ЗАЛЕССКИЙ” (PERESLAVL-ZALESSKY).

The edge: The raised inscription “ЗОЛОТОЕ КОЛЬЦО РОССИИ” (THE GOLDEN RING OF RUSSIA) every word of which is divided from another one by the sector containing 200 corrugations.
