Description

The Council of Europe is an advisory international organisation promoting co-operation between all countries of Europe in the areas of legal standards, human rights, democratic development, the rule of law and cultural co-operation. It was founded in 1949, has 47 member states with 820 million citizens, and is an entirely separate body from the European Union.

Andorra has been a member of the Council of Europe since 10 November 1994. Member states exercise on a rotating basis for a period of six months, the chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers, which is the executive body of the organism. The Andorran chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers started on November 9, 2012 and ended on May 16, 2013.

The centerpiece of the design is the number 20 (with the digit 0 containing 12 stars). To the left the coat of arms of the Principality and at the bottom the year of issue “2014”. On the outer edge 12 five-pointed stars representing the European Union.
